The ideal climate and soil of the western North America contribute to the region’s ability to yield abundant supplies of softwood timber products. Among the many commercial species, we have been exporting the following five to China market: Douglas fir, Hem-fir, Western Red Cedar, Sitka Spruce and Alder.
Douglas fir
One of the strongest softwoods, Douglas fir is often the preferred species for structural purposes. It is not only appropriate for engineered applications (e.g: laminated timbers, and cooling tower construction) but also widely used for doors, cabinets, millwork and stage flooring.
- Size: 2-6” x 4-20” x 8’-20’ dimension lumber
- 2”x4” full saw, clear to shop grade
- 5”x5”/wdrxRL, slicing flitches
- S4S or Rough, KD or Green
- Offer both First Growth and Second Growth
Hem-fir
Hem-fir is among the harder, stronger western softwoods. It is widely used for framing and 2x4/6 houses and is also a main species for mouldings, millworks and container pallets.
- 2”x4” full saw, clear to shop grade
- 5”x5”/wdrxRL, slicing flitches
- S4S or Rough, KD or Green
Western Red Cedar
Western Red Cedar has a strong spicy odor. Heartwood varies from dark reddish brown to a pinkish color. It is one of the lightest softwoods, but has excellent weather-resistant properties. It is often used for decking, fencing, Sauna rooms and paneling.
- We offer R-list Clear and Shop grade and timber to our Chinese customers.
Sitka Spruce
Our Sitka Spruce timber is sourced from the upper west coast regions of Canada and south east Alaska. This fine grained material is well suited for the many facets of musical instrument manufacturing (e.g: guitars tops, high-quality piano sounding boards, stringed instruments, etc). Our Sitka Spruce lumber is mainly shipped to our customers in China and Taiwan.
Alder
Alder is one of the few hardwood species principally from the North West. Red alder machines well and can be sanded, painted, or stained to a good finish. Doors, cabinets and furniture components made of Alder are popular in the States. We have been importing Alder door parts from China and at the same time supply Alder lumber to our Chinese partners.
